101 THREE SIMPLE RULES

3 SIMPLE RULES THAT I NEVER BREAK

The car I post on Turo is one of the most important determining factors for whether I make a profit or not. It is also one of the biggest mistakes that I see other hosts make. The cars that I choose might seem counter intuitive.

Before I became a host on Turo,

I did a lot of research and found plenty of frustrated Turo hosts. I noticed a commonality with many of these hosts:

They were renting luxury cars with huge payments that they couldn't afford and then they’d become really upset when a guest did not treat their car well.

That's all I had to hear. I was going to do it differently. So, I immediately made my 3 rules.

RULE 1 - I ONLY POST CARS THAT HAVE DEPRECIATED:

I only list used cars that have already depreciated. This allows me to maintain the majority of my initial investment, while earning rental money.

RULE 2 - I NEVER POST MY PERSONAL CAR:

I never rent my personal car on Turo because I know people are going to treat it like a rental. They will drive it fast, scratch the rims, spill on the seats, and even smoke in the car.

RULE 3 - I ONLY PAY CASH FOR CARS:

I never finance my cars. I save up money until I can buy the car with cash. A loan is a liability, and a bank is a partner that gets paid no matter what (with interest).
