WANNA BE A TURO HOST?
Top 3 questions asked by aspiring Turo hosts
We offer aspiring new Turo hosts the opportunity to book a free Clarity Call ask questions about being a Turo host. Below are the 3 most common questions asked during Clarity Calls.
Q1: Do you think my car will make money?
A1: Although Turo publishes the most rented cars in the nation, it doesn’t mean those are the best cars for every host. That’s why I always research 3 key factors during the Clarity Call: First we evaluate the car’s purchase price, depreciation, and common issues. Second, we research the current Turo cars, rental prices, and hosts in a specific city. Third, we cross-check that information with Turo’s data. This leaves my client with a pretty good idea on what to expect.
Q2: How does insurance work?
A2: The Turo insurance system can be both confusing and deceiving. It’s important to review the “host plans” and the Turo Terms of service. In addition, each host should call their personal insurance company to ensure that the car can be rented on Turo. The last thing anyone wants is to be dropped by an insurance carrier. On the Clarity Call, I make it a point to cover how the insurance works, what to expect, my tricks for handling claims, and the insurance companies I use.

Q3: What was your worst Turo hosting experience?
A3: Most of my Turo guests have been great. Every once in a while, someone forgets to gas up the car, leaves it dirty, or returns it late. But the worst guest lived in the car, never returned it, abandoned it without gas, and damaged the bumper. We found the car with all of guest’s positions (eg: clothes, household items, and drug paraphernalia). Most people are surprised at how I turned that bad situation into a $1K profit and had the car back on the road in 1 week.
